In the heart of Ames, Iowa
In September of 2001, our doors opened for the very first time. House of Refuge has been a work brought to life through faith, dedication, wisdom, and great leadership. Since 2001, some of our very first foundational members still attend and actively work in the church today. Having received the call from God, Bishop Orlando McClain has taken this beautiful work, from what some may call "humble beginnings."
Now looking back over 20 years ago, we realize, we have seen God's blessings poured out from the windows of Heaven on this ministry. Through faith, we have seen the sick be healed. Through faith we have seen lives changed dramatically. Through faith, we have seen former drug addicts, stop, and live for Christ. Through faith, we have seen our congregation grow, near beyond the walls of our building. In 2008, Bishop McClain lead our congregation to a larger church building to accommodate God's people. Since then, many updates and renovations have been done to the church. The labor and dedication of our pastor, his family, and all the members who continually serve Christ and expand this ministry has kindled the spirit of unity.
When you walk into House of Refuge, you will be greeted it with a warm welcoming smile and a message that will fill your soul. Today, the congregation continues to grow through prayer, and community outreach. To God be the glory!
